Poll Suggests Gregoire Vulnerable in Rematch With Rossi

A poll commissioned in June by the Building Industry Association of Washington showed that Gov. Christine Gregoire’s support is below the critical 50% mark for an incumbent.

According to BIAW’s poll, nearly half of all the registered voters who were surveyed believe the state government is headed in the wrong direction under the leadership of Gov. Gregoire.

Most telling is that an overwhelming majority believe Gregoire would put the interests of the government ahead of the interests of their families. There is no doubt Gregoire’s actions as governor have hurt her chances of re-election.

Other significant findings of the poll include:

*When informed about Gregoire’s record on government spending, crime, education and transportation, she loses to Dino Rossi by 48% to 44%.

*52% of respondents were less likely or much less likely to vote for Gregoire when they learned she increased sales, gas and alcohol taxes.

*54% of respondents were less likely or much less likely to vote for Gregoire when they learned she approved a massive expansion of Indian casinos during the same period that Indian Tribes contributed nearly a million dollars to Democrat campaign committees.

*62% of respondents are less likely or much less likely to vote for Gregoire when they learn she granted the early release of 3000 felons per year, some convicted of violent crimes.

*Nearly 2/3 of respondents are less likely or much less likely to vote for Gregoire when they learn she increased spending by 33% and put the state in the position of facing a $1.2 billion deficit.

The results of this poll show that Gregoire’s liability is her allegiance to the special interest groups of Indian tribes, labor unions, homosexual activists and trial lawyers.

Now that you know the facts about Gov. Gregoire’s record you need to inform others so they can vote for new leadership in 2008.
