GWB: Thank You and Farewell

"I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death." --Thomas Paine

Dear Mr. President,
As you take your final leave of Washington, DC we would be remiss if we did not thank you for your great contributions to our country.

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito will be your legacy for another generation. We thank you for your long record of protecting the unborn and with heavy hearts we watch the new president undo your eight years of pro-life and pro-family policy.

Thank you for keeping our country safe since 9/11. Surely one day the historians will note your central role in preventing further attacks after that dark and tragic day in September.

You endured the blind hatred of irrational opponents but with steadfast determination you pursued a course for victory in Iraq. The surge produced the result that allows the new president to claim victory but the credit belongs to you President Bush.

Finally, as one of your final acts in office you pardoned Ramos and Compean, the two border agents wrongly convicted of “doing their job”. This is sweet victory for thousands who championed for their release but it is surely sweetest of all for their families. Thank you and God bless
you.
